Summer Lovin

Over the weekend I spent some time with my friend Kat making awesome summer cocktails. There is nothing sweeter than sitting on the deck sipping a cool refreshing drink with friends. Pimms Italiano with blueberries, cucumbers, lime, mint, and oranges makes for a lovely afternoon!!!

secret agent

not feeling well today..headache and sluggish.

so , i have to say.. i am so excited and in awe of the secret agent contest that is going on right now on fredflare . i have always been i love with mystery books and especially nancy drew.  it pretty much can't get any better than that. so fredflare is doing something special for nancy drew's 80th anniversary by each day posting a new episode and clue to solve the secret teen agent mystery . i have been reading each day and waiting for the post. you now have a chance to win 1,000!!

i would be happy with just a fredflare giftcard!!
one of the clues/episodes on their website. i am so impressed by their thought process with this whole thing. eeep!

some other things that have made me really happy today:

 !anthropologie ! such beautiful stuff. right now their "at home " section has been overflowing with cuteness. stacked paperback wallpaper is definitely one of my favorites right now. i am in love with most wallpaper on this site but this just makes me think of having your own library living room right in your room.

i also dream about sleeping in the cirrus duvet set. so beautiful and comfy looking.  close your eyes.

96 degrees and thunderstorms at bay.

	summer dayz with m.i.a and lily allen remixes. sunroof open and sticky air. this past weekend i went to the beach both saturday and sunday. saturday was quite nice but sunday we got really spooky clouds out by the marina and it was time to run inside. my sister and i did some shopping on saturday in downtown salem, ma in search of her wedding ring. some luck with that but i was truly excited about the two new shops that have opened up in the area.  hosted by 100 % wind energy.. roOst in salem is enough to make me scream with excitement. i am glad i don't work at the tea shop near by anymore or i would be in lots of trouble.  they have an assortment of cookbooks, handmade soaps, and decorative vases. Be their friend on Facebook here! also, next door is the beehive which is another super neat store. the beehive has lots of neat collectibles . original slinky dog toy and an assortment of sock monkey friends. cards, wallets, mugs, joke toys. so hop on down salem friends and check it out. i know i am definitely heading back that way. living in danvers now makes a little further for me to go but it is really only 20 mins away. i'd brave the salem traffic downtown any day for these lovely shops. what are some of the neat stores in YOUR area? Today I miss..

Books. It has been a while since I have browsed new titles and flipped through pages of pure unidentified art that pours from the heart. I miss working at Barnes and Noble with the smell of the trade paperbacks. The stacks of books ready to be shelved and sorted. The craft section books always falling off the shelves on my toes. I even miss the silly questions people would ask. " HI!  am looking for a book. It is green and it is a New York Times Best Seller. It is about this thick..umm..not sure who it is by. "

 

The smell of used books have a different but pleasant smell...like the used bookstore that we have in downtown Salem.

  The bookstore is filled to the brim with books.

You can't even really move without the fear of knocking over books. There is a tiny slot in the slew of books to hand your money through. It is tucked away on one of those cobblestone streets like we have in New Bedford. It is worth every minute of searching for a new read. It is really a nook. The tumbling towers of hardcover and paperbacks make this little shop unique. They also have old copies of classics that still have written notes in them -maybe passed down to someone else. The creased pages and folded edges. Coffee rings. I need something new and inspiring to read. Something that will change things.

Wednesday.

Today is just as hot as yesterday. Probably around 86 and sunny. Sticky. I like it but this air conditioner at work is giving me the chills.  Kinda a bummy day because I found out that my loans didn't cover much of my tuition for my on-line classes I wanted to take for web design.  Well ..at least the weather is fine and the sun is shining..  Some pictures that have made me happy today:
